Surfing : Monday, November 5, 2007, Hang Loose Santa Catarina Pro
Stop No. 9 of 10 on the 2007 Foster’s ASP World Tour
Imbituba, Brazil
Oct. 30 – Nov. 7, 2007
Defending Champion Mick Fanning (Yallingup, WA, Aus) (pictured) advanced into Round Four of the Hang Loose Santa Catarina Pro along with his closest rivals for the Fosters ASP World Tour in Imbituba, Brasil today. Fanning would have clinched his maiden world title today had Taj Burrow (Aus) or current 8X World Champion Kelly Slater (USA) lost their Round 3 heats. While they could keep their aspirations alive into Hawaii by finishing ahead of Fanning in Brazil, the likelihood of them beating him in Pipeline decreases with every heat Fanning makes.
The second to last stop on the 2007 Foster’s ASP World Tour, the Hang Loose Santa Catarina Pro, will decide this year’s ASP World Champion should current ratings leader Mick Fanning (AUS) take it all the way in Brazil’s beach breaks next week.

Stop No. 9 of 10 on the 2007 Foster’s ASP World Tour

Oct. 30 – Nov. 7, 2007
Taj Burrow (Yallingup, Western Australia) remains in contention or the Fosters ASP World Title after advancing into Round Three of the Hang Loose Santa Catarina Pro in Imbituba, Brasil today. Burrow had a slow start to his Round One heat this morning feeling too hot in his wetsuit in the warm water. In the last minute of the heat he caught a wave giving him the score he needed and the victory. Burrow needs to advance through the next round to stay in contention with Mick Fanning (Aus) and current 8X World Champion Kelly Slater (USA) for the world title.

Redback Pro – Strikes Back
After the success of last year’s Redback Pro, the event will be back in September bigger and better than ever.
This year’s leg of the pro tour held in conjunction with the South Australian state titles, will head once again to the infamous Knights wedge in September.
The competition, now the biggest bodyboarding event to be held off the east coast, has been bumped up to a four-star rating and the prize pool has more than tripled to $6000, thanks partly to the new sponsorships deals with National Australia Bank, Onboard Surf and a new surfing development company “Very Big Waves”.
